Vapor Screening Tool

Turn complex vapor data into confident conclusions

Streamline Vapor Encroachment Screening for
Phase I Assessments

The ERIS Vapor Screening Tool brings clarity and confidence to vapor encroachment evaluations, helping environmental professionals identify, assess, and document vapor risks efficiently within their Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, all inside ERIS Xplorer.

What does the VST do?

  • Helps identify a Vapor Encroachment Condition (VEC) as part of a Phase I Assessment (complying with ASTM E2600-22)
  • Applies approximate minimum search distances surrounding the target property to identify the default Area of Concern (AOC)
  • Assists in identifying potential Chemicals of Concern (COC) and Petroleum Hydrocarbon COCs in the AOC around the target property
  • Allows fine-tuning of the AOC based on the user’s expertise and knowledge of the site by adjusting groundwater flow direction and search distances for up-, cross-, and down-gradient quadrants
  • Helps determine whether or not a VEC exists by answering a ‘Vapor Checklist’ of preset questions about natural features, preferential pathways, soil characteristics, and physical barriers and allows commentary for inclusion in the Vapor Report

Capture risks beyond the database

Not all vapor concerns appear in standard data sources. The Vapor Screening Tool in ERIS Xplorer, allows users to manually add vapor records based on historical research, site observations, or external documentation. The system automatically geocodes the location, assigns a map key, and includes the record directly in reporting, ensuring critical vapor risks are documented accurately and nothing is overlooked.

The VST is $40 with the order of an E1 to E6 package.
