As we enter 2023, there is still uncertainty about what the economic forecast means for CRE. While some industry experts predict a pivotal year for the economy, continued inflation and rising interest rates will likely persist, and therefore questions remain.

Join us for an in-person event as we kick off the year with Gabrielle Jansen, Research Manager at JLL, Wyatt Henderson, Partner at MA Partners, Brant Smith, Senior Managing Director at Berkadia, and Scott Davis, Senior Vice President, Industry Engagement at ERIS, where we will discuss the impacts on CRE transactions in central Texas for 2023 and other market conditions that may impact environmental professionals.

About the Speakers

Brant Smith Brant Smith, Senior Managing Director, Berkadia
Brant Smith joined the Austin mortgage banking office of Berkadia Commercial Mortgage as branch manager in February 2010. Prior to moving to Austin Mr. Smith spent a number of years in the Houston office of Capmark Finance Inc the predecessor company of Berkadia. Since joining Capmark in November of 2005, Mr. Smith has originated in excess of $4 billion in debt financing and equity placement for commercial properties across the United States. Mr. Smith has been named a “Top Producer” by the company in 2007 and 2008. Mr. Smith was previously a Director in the Houston office of Holliday Fenoglio Fowler (“HFF”) where he began his career in commercial mortgage banking in March of 1998 and originated over $500 million in commercial real estate financings. Prior to his tenure with HFF, Mr. Smith was an investment advisor with Fidelity Investments where he obtained his Series 7 and Series 63 licenses. Mr. Smith is active in the Mortgage Bankers Association, the National Multi-Housing Council, the Urban Land Institute and was a member of the Freddie Mac Advisory council.
Wyatt Henderson Wyatt Henderson, Co-Founder & Principal, MA Partners
Wyatt Henderson has spent the last 22 years focused in real estate development and homebuilding. He started his career with KPMG Peat Marwick and has worked with some of the nation’s largest homebuilders, including KB Home, Lennar Homes and Ashton Woods Homes, where he served as a controller responsible for project finance and business plan development. With MA Partners, Wyatt is responsible for the execution of development projects and is instrumental in sourcing and evaluating opportunities. He is active in investor relations as well as negotiations with sellers, lenders, and municipalities. Wyatt attended Midwestern State University on both academic and athletic scholarships. He then continued at Baylor University in Waco, Texas earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration & Accounting with a minor in Information Systems. Wyatt lives in Dallas, Texas with his wife of 19 years and their three children.
Gabrielle Jansen Gabrielle Jansen, Research Manager, JLL
Gabrielle Jansen is a research manager for JLL, a leading professional services firm that specializes in commercial real estate. With over 10 years of experience in the industry, Gabrielle is knowledgeable about market trends, demographic changes, and economic indicators that affect the CRE market, and has the ability to analyze complex data to provide meaningful and actionable insights.

About the Moderator:

Scott Davis, SVP, Industry Engagement, ERIS
Scott joined ERIS with the merger of GeoSearch in December, 2020. Scott was a founding partner and the Chief Operating Officer of GeoSearch for over 23 years. Upon his arrival at ERIS, Scott was responsible for the development and implementation of ERIS operational strategies and service processes. As of March 2022, Scott was appointed Senior Vice President, Industry Engagement, to oversee ERIS’ significant activities in the market, engaging with customers, association interests, tradeshows, and developing webinars, podcasts, and promoting industry thought leadership. Additionally, Scott has a significant depth of industry experience including project management, technical support for numerous environmental assessments, feasibility studies, and wetland determinations throughout the United States while working at Carter & Burgess, Maxim Engineering, Huntington and Southwestern Labs. Scott is the treasurer for the Industry Council on the Environment (ICE), founder and board member of the Central Texas Association of Environmental Professionals, and the Vice President of Municipal Utility District 23.
